WRITING TIP #5: Highlight the Most Relevant Information

WRITING TIP #5:

Highlight the Most Relevant Information

Once you have the attention of the reader, you must provide solid evidence to back up your program's needs. This is done by using the most relevant information that supports the needs. Because we can be passionate about the work we do, it can be easy to go overboard with information that we believe is important. To us, everything is important. The key is to find the absolute most important areas to highlight. This will help the reader to not be overwhelmed with information and to continue to become interested in knowing more. Remember to grab their attention and work towards keeping it. This is done with a balance of not too little and not too much.

This process can feel cumbersome when you begin. I hope that the ideas presented in this blog make the process more comfortable and smooth. The rewards will come as you begin to meet the needs of your program or service and in the days that follow. I wish you and your organization the very best in your needs assessment.
