When writing your needs assessment report, one of the most important components is the "purpose" section. The readers of your report must understand the needs of your program. They must understand WHY the program has these needs. Does your program have a gap or several gaps in the services it offers? Do the people you serve have barriers to accessing your services? Are you lacking space to provide for your expanding services? This list helps the reader to understand the needs and to gain insight into ways they can help fill the void.
